Description of the library assets managed by the Friars

St. Bonaventure wrote:  “If the friars are to preach, and do not want to tell stories, they must have knowledge”.

Francis of Assisi taught that this knowledge must become a passion that leads one to the Infinite and Highest Good.

Still today, the Friars Minor continue to be dedicated to acquiring a solid, effective cultural formation, making the rich patrimony of their libraries available to everyone.  Hundreds of thousand of books – with important manuscripts, incunabula and “cinquecentine” – are available for research and study.

Following is a list of the main Libraries held by the Province of Friars Minor of Umbria.
